Your project: how does it work?
After you have approached us for a quote we will come and do a recce at a time that suits you. Depending upon the size of the project, this can take as little as 15 minutes. There is absolutely no obligation on your part for this.
We will offer initial technical advice on site which we will then follow up with a written quotation and description of what you will need.
If we are successful in winning your contract we will then meet with you again (this can be done over the phone for small jobs) to make sure that we have agreed all the details. We will then formalise this discussion into a contract. This contract will set out, in simple language, our responsibilities to you and the terms of payment.
Fees
Typically, fees will cover our service, labour and materials and will be exclusive of VAT, which is charged separately. (We can quote on other bases if you or the project require this, namely day rates, ‘cost plus’ or…..)
Payment
Normally a contract is divided into 3 payments: i) an upfront payment paid on signature of contract to cover materials and overheads ii) a (series of) payment(s) over the term of the contract iii) a final payment at end of project.
Communication
You will have continual access to Andrew who will be on hand to advise as the project develops and control the quality of work done on site.
NB
… something that many builders do not make clear. Any changes made after contract will add to the eventual cost of the build. To avoid ‘cost creep’, or delays, where possible, it is essential to avoid client specification creep after contract!

EXTRA SERVICES
Design
With our bespoke design service you can be sure that your home will be specified to your exact needs, whether it be a simple set of shelves or a kitchen extension.
Project management
We are very happy to work with your architects to see your plans to fruition – removing the onus from you so that you can rest assured that your building work is being overseen by an experienced hand.
Consultancy
We are also available for advice only. Having built a 6-bedroom house from scratch in SW11 we are very happy to share our knowledge with other self-builders; or perhaps you simply need advice on your party wall situation or how to approach the planners. We can work to an hourly or a fixed fee for this service.
